A Lady About Town

A brand new comedy drama from Kate Bramley and Badapple Theatre. Touring April-June 2027.

It is 1913. The passionate campaign for Votes For Women sweeping the country is constantly thwarted by the implacable Prime Minister. And the campaigners now fear all debate will be permanently cast aside due to war looming on the horizon.
Our heroines- a wealthy, outspoken ladies’ gossip columnist and a trailblazing Yorkshire working-class suffragette- clash head on as the Edwardian era starts to fade. They couldn’t be further apart on the social scale but, as “Deeds Not Words” becomes the rallying cry, the two women agree to set their differences aside, and send a momentous letter to Mr. Asquith.
Expect a mix of laugh out loud comedy and poignant historical drama- from the team behind ‘The Thankful Village’, ‘the Regalettes’, The Last Station Keeper’ and ‘Back to the Land Girls’- giving us a timely reminder of these historic times we lead up to the centenary of The Equal Franchise Act, giving votes to all UK women, in 2028.
