The irrepressible Badapple team are back with a brand new ‘hybrid-live’ high quality film-theatre performance of their most loved tour ‘Eddie and the Gold Tops’, starring Hadley Smith, Meg Matthews and Richard Kay.
This hilarious comedy, set against the backdrop and dynamic music of of the ‘Swinging 60’s’, was written by our Artistic Director Kate Bramley (formerly of Sir John Godber’s Hull Truck Theatre) with original songs and music by Jez Lowe (SONY Radio Academy Award Winner/BBC Radio 2 Radio Ballads) and filmed by Baz Jones of Sharpstick Films.
This tale follows our Eddie, a much-loved milkman – from a family of great Italian milkmen – who finds himself becoming a chart-topping Beat group star, quite by accident. Having inherited the family milk round from his father, Eddie has fulfilled his deathbed promise to never miss a delivery for the good people of the village of Bottledale. But suddenly things are on the up! His songs are heading up the charts and if he can get there by tonight he’ll be on the brand-new Top of The Pops!
So, get ready, Eddie, go! You’re heading for the high life, with the fabulous Gold Tops behind you every step of the way!
But when things take a churn for the worse, will he get back for the morning milk?
This exciting new film-theatre event has been funded by Arts Council England distributing funds from The National Lottery, conceived to bring audiences back to rural spaces for safe and creative events at local arts and community venues, from theatres to barns and all the fold-yards, campsites and aircraft hangers in between!
